Workers' Comp guide

Injured at work? Here's how workers' compensation care works, and how to make sure your therapy referral gets to Radius without delay.

Hurt on the job? Workers' comp can feel like a maze of approvals, deadlines, and paperwork. Here's the short version, and how we help you through it.

How it works, in 5 steps

1. Report your injury. Tell your manager. They'll open a claim and send you to a designated workers' comp doctor, your Primary Treating Physician (PTP). All care starts with them.

2. Get referred to Radius. If your PTP recommends therapy, ask them to fax your referral straight to us at (530) 509-2089. Radius fulfills workers' comp referrals and authorizations for chiropractic care, physical therapy, and massage therapy. Already approved somewhere else? No problem. We can contact your adjuster and have your care redirected here.

3. Your insurer approves your visits. Treatment can't start until your insurance authorizes it, usually 6 to 12 visits at a time. The moment we have your authorization, we call you to schedule.

4. Show up, and stay consistent. One visit per day, and authorized care must be completed within three months. Consistency matters: long gaps in care can put your claim at risk. If life gets in the way, tell us, and we'll help you stay on track.

5. If care is denied, you have options. A denial isn't the end. You have the right to an Independent Medical Review, where a neutral state-assigned doctor, not your insurer, makes the call. The deadline is 30 days, so tell us right away if you're denied.

Why patients choose Radius for workers' comp

Most clinics treat whatever gets approved and stop there. We don't.

Workers' comp runs on rules: authorizations, visit caps, utilization review, strict deadlines. We know those rules inside and out, and we use them for you. That means:

  • We handle the back-and-forth. Referrals, authorizations, adjusters, third-party administrators. We deal with them so you don't have to.
  • We help you get more care when you need it. California caps therapy visits, but the cap is soft. When more treatment is medically necessary, we know how to document it and support your doctor's request.
  • We act fast when something goes wrong. Delays, denials, confusing letters. Bring them to us, and we'll help you understand your rights and your next move.

You focus on getting better. We'll handle the headaches.
