WHERE TO START

Longevity

Staying capable as you age is less about chasing youth and more about protecting the things you already love to do. The strength, balance, and mobility that make those things possible can be built and maintained at any age.

Staying active through your 60s, 70s, and beyond

Most people assume the slow loss of strength and steadiness is just part of getting older. A good deal of it is not. The body responds to training at 70 much the way it does at 40, and the qualities that let you hike the trails around Nevada County, get down on the floor with grandchildren, garden, travel, or simply move through the day without a second thought can be built and kept up well into later life.

Radius works with active adults who want to hold onto their independence and their pace. The focus is on real, everyday function: getting up from a chair with ease, carrying groceries, staying steady on uneven ground, and moving without pain or fear of falling.

What we work on

Healthy aging rests on a handful of physical qualities, and all of them respond to the right training:

  • Strength, which protects the joints, supports the bones, and makes daily tasks feel easy rather than effortful.
  • Mobility and range of motion, so movement stays free and comfortable rather than stiff and guarded.
  • Balance and stability, which keep you confident on your feet and lower the risk of a fall.
  • Stamina, so you can stay active for as long as the day asks.

Care is tailored to where you are now and where you want to be, and progresses at a pace that builds capability without overdoing it.

Geriatric massage is one way we support healthy aging: gentle, adapted bodywork that helps older adults stay mobile and comfortable. See our Massage page for more.

Want to keep doing what you love? The diagnostic exam shows where to start.

Who this is for

This path suits anyone who wants to stay active and independent as they age, whether you are recovering from a specific issue, noticing that movement has become harder, or simply intent on staying ahead of it. You do not need to be injured to benefit, and you do not need to have been an athlete.

Care begins with a full diagnostic exam to understand your goals, assess how you move, and map out a plan to keep you doing what you love.
